Your parents may have forced you into eating healthy food while you were growing up, if so you were one of the lucky ones.

Unfortunately, nowadays many parents allow their children to choose what foods they will eat. How many of you know that most times children do not choose food for health?

When they ask and they invariably will, why do I have to eat that stuff, you can answer with:

Eating heart healthy food increases your energy, improves the way your body functions, strengthens your immune system and thwarts weight gain.

Will that be enough to convince them? I doubt it, but at least you have something to fall back on.

Clearly foods must provide a proper balance of the four essential nutrients, as well as a rich supply of vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients.

However, it is not enough simply to purchase foods that are high in complex carbohydrates, fiber, and complementary proteins and low in saturated fats.

Try enlisting your child’s help while shopping by allowing them to pick out one fruit and one vegetable. Be prepared to explain to them which foods are for health.

These foods must also be free of harmful additives, and it must be prepared in a way that preserves its nutrients and avoids the production of harmful substance.

Heart healthy foods

Heart health food is a great way to make friends with your heart.

We can all use it to our advantage, regardless of age, family history, or personality type.

The dietary approach to a healthier heart which is agreed upon by more experts than any other is a reduction of fat in the diet.

Specifically a reduction in saturated fat, which occurs mostly in animal-source food such as beef, and a fatlike substance that we all know as cholesterol.

Eating Healthy Food

When choosing your healthy foods, look for fruits and vegetables that are at the peak of ripeness.

It has been said that food is the largest, single medicine that we can consume.

In the case of prostate cancer in men, the primary dietary factors are the over-consumption of oily and greasy foods, salty foods, hard baked flour products, and heavy animal foods.

Most fruits and vegetables should be eaten in their entirely, as all of the parts, including the skin contain the valuable nutrients that make up your healthy foods.

High protein foods

If you enjoy eating meat and you're looking for best cooking foods, you don't have to give it up, but learn to select the better types of meat for high protein foods.

Animal products purchased from grocery stores are prone to contamination from pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers as well as the common overuse of antibiotics and growth hormones in large-scale commercial feedlots, making these food sources downright dangerous.

For these reasons, we recommend high protein food from beef, lamb, goat, buffalo, venison, elk, and other clean red meats; fish with fins and scales from oceans and rivers; chicken, turkey, and other poultry raised in a free-range setting or organically and grass-fed.

Also recommended for best cooking foods are "clean" meats harvested from wild sources.

These are all becoming more widely available in your grocery store or local health food store. Healthy foods are a possibility, but we have to work at it.
