Alternative Holistic Medicine

Holistic Medicine is one of many alternative medicines that has been around for many years.

holistic medicine01 A renewed interest has come about because more and more people are desiring a more caring, humanistic approach to be nurtured, empowered and treated with respect.

Their preference is the safer, less costly, more effective and natural treatments, along with an emphasis on empowerment of the person, as a partner in their own health care and healing.

With the growing interest in holistic medicine, there has become an increasing number of practicing holistic physicians and health care providers who have increasingly put into practice some of these sought-after ideals.

Why Alternative Medicine?

The holistic medicine approach is based on the philosophy that man is made of three levels:

  • Body
  • Mind
  • and
  • Spirit

Spiritual problems that result in guilt or shame, mental troubles like worry, or physical processes such as not eating right and not getting enough sleep, can each disrupt a person's life.

In this medicine, there is a law that governs all natural healing: "All cure comes from the inside out, from the head down, and in reverse order as the symptoms first appeared."

Alternative Diet Therapy

Before this alternative approach can build up the body, spirit or mind, you have to stop what is breaking it down.

This requires an honest self-appraisal and the resolve to replace destructive habits with constructive ones.

A habit is a behavior that tends to be compulsive or that we repeat frequently without conscious thought. Excessive drinking, cigarette smoking, and using drugs like cocaine, heroin, Valium, and amphetamines are only the tip of the habit "iceberg."

How about food habits-fried foods, wheat products, salty foods, milk products, sugar, chocolate, sweet deserts, commercial soft drinks, coffee, tea, and others?

How about thought habits-hate, bitterness, vengefulness, jealousy, shame, guilt, fear, resentment, and rebellion?

What about behavioral habits-not sleeping enough, seldom exercising, complaining, working too hard?

These are habits that can contribute to diseases by causing us to break down faster than we can build up.

Helpful Holistic Medicine

Drugs are sometimes necessary and useful, but they cannot build new tissue.

There is no therapy in the healing art that will assist inbringing about healing without nutrition to help it.

And, further, there is no therapy that won't progressmuch more rapidly when a balanced, effective food regimenis used with it. Therefore, only food can bring tissuecorrection.

As we adopt new eating habits and better lifestyles, our bodies mold to the new pattern. New tissue replaces the old tissue. Our level of health retraces backward along the same route that led us into the disease in the first place.

Holistic medicine urges you to keep your mind on the goal-better health and abundant life.

Love yourself, let go of the past, forgive and forget, and resolve that each tomorrow will be better than the last.
