Obesity and Fast Food

Obesity and fast food is a subject that is being discussed worldwide.

Obesity and diabetes are on the rise, not only in this country but in any country that has a love affair with fast food.

Fast food is the number one contributing factor in our nation’s weight problem.

According to Eric Schlosser’s book Fast Food Nation, Americans will spend more money on fast food than on higher education this year.

Americans love to eat and fast food and obesity are starting to get out of hand.

Approximately one in every five Americans is obese. As pointed out by Morgan Spurlock’s documentary Super-Size Me. One in every four Americans will visit a fast food restaurant today.

Fast food nutrition facts

Fast food nutrition facts state that one reason for the weight gain may be that a single meal from one of these restaurants often contains enough calories to satisfy a person’s caloric requirement for an entire day!

On average, teenagers eat at fast-food restaurants twice each week.

As a result, they are probably taking in a lot of extra calories and fat. Just one super-sized fast food meal of a sandwich, fries, and soda can have more calories, fat, and added sugar than people need in an entire day.

The best healthy diet for kids is to limit the amount of fast food they eat. And when they do eat at fast food restaurants, choose the healthier options. See Healthy Fast Food

Best fast foods

Making the right decisions when it comes to healthy eating is not an easy task for kids - or adults.

According to the study, men visited fast-food restaurants more frequently than women and blacks more frequently than whites.

Black men reported an average frequency of 2.3 visits per week in 2000-01. White women had the lowest frequency, at an average of 1.3 visits per week in 2000-01.

So healthy diets for men definitely need to be addressed with some concern.
