Benefits Of Organic Foods
Why should we go to the expense of Organic Foods? For years studies have shown that in cultures where the diet consists of natural fruits and vegetables, making it high in both carbohydrates and fiber, a number of diseases that afflict North Americans simply don't exist.
America boasts the most advanced medical technology in the world, yet our population is on the bottom of the world's healthiest people... Why is that? Several Reasons. Many of our foods are now loaded with chemicals and pesticides. Then, there's the problem of preservatives, chemicals, artificial dyes, colors, and flavorings. This results in the vast number of diseases that afflict the western world and everyone else that eat similar diets.

History of organic food
Initially, this natural food's history began with fresh vegetables. Early organic consumers, looking for essentially chemical free fresh or minimally processed food, had to buy direct from growers. However, with widespread distribution of these natural foods, high volume sales through mass outlets, typically supermarkets, is rapidly replacing the direct farmer connection.
In the United States, agricultural products that make these claims must adhere to the requirements of the Organic Food Act of 1990. These regulations essentially require that any product that make these claims must have been manufactured and handled according to specific requirements.

I think that most of us would be horrified to discover just how many chemicals and pesticides that we consume just from the food that we eat. It's not as hard as it used to be for us to eat this great health food. So the question naturally arises, where to buy it? In its early conception, fresh produce-vegetables and fruits-was the most available type of health food, and closely associated with the same type farming. It was often purchased directly from the growers, at farmer's markets, from on-farm stands, through specialty stores, and through natural food coops.
